The chaotic scenes broke out during a high-stakes session meant to address the country's mounting governance deadlock, forcing the speaker to suspend the House.

The Incident

The confrontation unfolded when Time Kadrijaj, a member of parliament from the opposition Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), marched toward the front row where Kurti was seated. Shouting "Shame on you!", Kadrijaj lobbed several eggs directly at the caretaker Prime Minister.

Roots of the Crisis

The egg-throwing incident highlights the severe political volatility gripping Europe's youngest democracy, which has struggled through multiple elections over a short span due to recurring parliamentary deadlocks.

The current crisis stems from the aftermath of the June general elections. Tensions escalated further after a critical constitutional deadline to formally constitute the parliament expired.
