Israeli Politician Proposes Naming Airport Lounge After Indian Pilot Smit Machchhar for Heroic Bravery
TEL AVIV — In a resounding tribute to extraordinary courage, Israeli Deputy Minister and Member of the Knesset Almog Cohen has announced plans to propose naming a dedicated lounge at Ben Gurion International Airport in honor of Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar.
Taking to social media platform X, Almog Cohen hailed Captain Machchhar as the "hero of the day," expressing profound gratitude on behalf of the nation.
"The State of Israel's hero of the day is the Indian pilot, Capt. Smit Machchhar, whose remarkable resourcefulness enabled him to unlock the cockpit door... Israel is deeply grateful to him," Cohen stated.
Praising the Indian aviator's upbringing and character, Cohen added: "I want to send a huge hug to his family and parents, who raised him on values that value human life above all else."
Cohen confirmed that as soon as the Knesset reconvenes, he will officially submit a bill to dedicate an airport lounge at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport to honor Captain Machchhar’s brave act, which has earned global acclaim from leaders, aviation authorities, and millions across the world.
