Grand 'Naav Manorath' Celebrations Mark the Holy Month of Shravan at Naya Mahadev Temple
Dungarpur, Rajasthan: The ancient and self-manifested (Swayambhu) Naya Mahadev Temple in Dungarpur city is witnessing grand and divine celebrations during the holy month of Shravan, marked by the 30-day 'Naav Manorath' festival. Organized under the leadership of Ketan Shah and Rajesh Sharma, the grand event is being celebrated with immense zeal and devotion by the Sanatani community.
Each day of the festival features unique and mesmerizing decorations (Shringar) of both Lord Shiva and the event pandal. On August 2, the celebration followed a "Yellow Theme", where the decorations, the deity’s attire, and even the offered Prasad (holy food) were coordinated in yellow. Devotees also distributed a wide variety of offerings to the gathering.
Sacred Procession & Traditional Festivities
Rajesh Sevak, the Chief Priest of Naya Mahadev Temple and Event In-charge, shared that on Sunday, August 2, fourteen devout families—including Praveen Gebilal Shrimal, Mukesh Gebilal Shrimal, Satish Shrimal, Deepak Arvindlal Shrimal, Vijay Shrimal, Hitendra Shrimal, Utpal Shrimal, Rajesh Shrimal, Neelam Shrimal, Gajendra Shrimal, Virendra Shrimal, Chetanlal Shrimal, Vikita Shrimal, and Kapil Bhatt—hosted the Naav Manorath.
Dressed in traditional attire—men in yellow kurtas and women in bright red ensembles—the host families led a vibrant procession from the Ram Roti Annakshetra. Dancing to traditional music and drums (Gaje-Baje), they reached the Naya Mahadev Temple, performed the solemn Maha Aarti, and fulfilled their religious vows.
Cultural & Devotional Performances
Mukesh Shrimal, General Secretary of the Sanatan Dharma Samiti, added that under the guidance of Laxmikant Jethwa and Omprakash Jethwa, an all-female troupe of 12 devotional singer artists from Shri Ramdev Khodiyar Anjar (Kutch) delivered soul-stirring bhajan performances. The talented singers included Bharati Ben Gohil, Raveena Ben Gohil, Sheetal Ben Goswami, Rashmi Ben Goswami, Bhavana Ben Bhalani, Panchika Ben Bhalani, Jigyaben Darji, Preetiben Prajapati, Nutanben Chauhan, Parul Ben Prajapati, and Deepti Ben Jain.
At the conclusion of the event, the host families honored the main conveners, Ketan Shah and Rajesh Sharma, by presenting them with traditional turbans (Pagdi) and scarves (Uparna).
