Dubai Launches $800 Incentive Scheme to Revive Tourism Following Regional Tension
DUBAI — In a major effort to rebuild global travel confidence, Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism has officially launched a broad incentive campaign titled "A Dubai Invite". The initiative offers benefits valued at over AED 3,000 (approximately $816 USD) to residents who host international friends and family.
The move follows a sharp decline in regional travel standard operations over recent months, as local authorities focus on restoring momentum to the emirate's hospitality sector ahead of the upcoming peak winter season.
Key Highlights of the "A Dubai Invite" Program
The Incentive: UAE residents holding a valid Emirates ID can nominate up to five friends or relatives residing outside the country. Once the guest arrives in Dubai on a valid visitor visa, the resident receives a rewards package.
Package Benefits: The digital voucher package includes heavily discounted or complimentary hotel stays, dining credits across partner restaurants, and free admission to major attractions and theme parks.
Limits & Validity: Residents can claim up to three separate voucher packages. Nominations are open for visitors arriving through October 31, 2026, with digital vouchers remaining redeemable through December.
Industry Impact and Economic Context
Dubai recorded a massive milestone of nearly 20 million international tourists in 2025. However, unpredictable regional developments earlier this year disrupted flight routes and reduced overall hotel occupancy levels.
By empowering residents to act as ambassadors, tourism officials aim to leverage personal recommendations to reassure international travellers and stimulate local commerce. Response to the program has been overwhelmingly positive, with over 10,000 resident nominations registered within the first 48 hours of launch.
