UAE Deploys Chinese FK-2000 Air Defence Systems to Bahrain Amid Continuing Iranian Strikes
MANAMA / DUBAI — In response to escalating regional conflict and ongoing drone and missile attacks attributed to Iranian forces, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has taken a significant strategic step to bolster its neighbor’s airspace security. The UAE Armed Forces have deployed Chinese-manufactured FK-2000 short-range air defence systems along the coastline of Bahrain.
The deployment comes as air raid sirens and cross-border strikes continue to threaten strategic infrastructure and allied military presence across the Arabian Gulf.

Counter-UAV Focus: The FK-2000 system is specifically optimized to engage low-altitude threats, including kamikaze/loitering drones, cruise missiles, and low-flying helicopters.

🛡️ Capabilities of the FK-2000 System
Developed by China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC), the FK-2000 is a mobile, gun-missile integration air defense system mounted on an 8x8 heavy-duty truck chassis:
Dual Armaments: It is equipped with two 30mm 6-barrel Gatling cannons capable of high-rate point defense, paired with up to 12 short-range surface-to-air missiles.
Integrated Sensors: The system features an all-weather acquisition radar, fire-control radar, and advanced electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) tracking sensors to detect low-observable targets even in heavy electronic warfare environments.
Point Defense: Functionally similar to the Russian Pantsir-S system, it provides close-in protection for critical infrastructure, airbases, and high-value coastal targets.
