Bridger placed himself directly in harm’s way to protect his three-year-old sister from a fierce German Shepherd attack, sustaining severe injuries that required 90 stitches across his face and head.

The incident occurred when a charging dog targeted Bridger's younger sister. Without hesitation, Bridger stepped in front of the child, enduring a violent bite to his cheek and head before grabbing his sister's hand and running her to safety.
When later asked by his father why he risked his life, the young boy offered a response that moved millions around the world:
"If someone had to die, I thought it should be me. I’m the older brother."
Honored by the World Boxing Council (WBC)
Bridger’s bravery caught the attention of the sports world, most notably the World Boxing Council (WBC). Recognizing that true championship spirit is defined by heart and selflessness rather than ring record, the WBC officially designated Bridger Walker as an Honorary WBC World Champion.
The council presented him with an authentic WBC Heavyweight Championship belt and permanently etched his name into the organization’s historical records under the title: "The Greatest Fighter on Earth for a Day."
The WBC also created the "Bridger Belt"—a new weight class category (Bridgerweight) named in his honor—symbolizing bravery, protection, and resilience.
