A Nine-Year Marriage Turns Bitter
In 2016, Shivani Dubey, a resident of Pahargaon, married Pradum Singh Parihar following a love affair.
According to Pradum's complaint, his close friend, Sumit Agarwal, was a frequent visitor to their household. Pradum claimed that Sumit was initially regarded as a family member and that Shivani used to tie a Rakhi to him as a symbol of a brother-sister bond. However, Pradum alleged that over time, the dynamic shifted as an unexpected closeness developed between the two.
Police Intervention and Counter-Applications
The situation escalated on September 17, 2026, when Shivani officially submitted a written application at the Isanagar police station. In her statement, she declared that she wanted to separate from Pradum of her own free will and live with Sumit, with the intention of marrying him. She maintained that her decision was entirely voluntary and free from any pressure or coercion.
Following her application, Pradum also approached the police station with his own request. He agreed to separate from Shivani but urged authorities to grant him custody of their son. Additionally, Pradum expressed severe safety concerns for himself and his family in light of the recent developments.
Local police at Isanagar have received applications from both sides and are currently reviewing the statements as the matter unfolds.
