Farmers Protest Railway Survey in Banswara, Demand Track Rerouting Through Government Land
Banswara, Rajasthan : Farmers and local residents from the Kushalgarh area of Banswara district submitted a memorandum to the District Collector, demanding a resurvey of the proposed railway line project. The protesters expressed strong objections to the current route, which passes through fertile agricultural land, and called on authorities to redirect the track through government-owned land.
The farmers highlighted that their agricultural landholdings are already limited, and acquiring their fields for the project would plunge their families into a severe livelihood crisis. They requested that the administration route the railway through government land so that both regional development and local agriculture can proceed without harming rural livelihoods.
Clarifying their stance, the villagers emphasized that they are not opposed to bringing railway infrastructure to the Banswara district, a long-pending demand awaited by millions of residents for years. However, they urged that a fresh survey be conducted to identify an alternative route that protects the interests of the farming community.
The district administration accepted the memorandum and assured the farmers that appropriate action would be taken in accordance with official rules and guidelines.
